OCTOBER 2014

Hi Nirmala,

Sawadee Ka right back at you.

OMG – yes Catherine and I had a wonderful holiday.  Thanks so much for helping us out.

Everything went like clockwork except for our transfer from Krabi airport to our Hotel.  For some reason they thought we were staying at the Centara on an island and left us at the pier.  We had to wait about an hour and half for someone to come and pick us up.  No big deal.

The flights over and back on Qantas were just fine we had good seats in both directions i.e 2 on the side of the aircraft plenty of room, the service on Qantas was excellent, nothing to complain about there.  The internal flight on Bangkok air was also excellent, amazing service and you just about got force fed food and drinks from the time you boarded to landing

Of course it was the Monsoon season there and we arrived in Krabi to torrential rain which pretty much hung round for the first three days.  Neither of us minded this as we were both pretty knackered and we took the opportunity to get our holiday started with a massage everyday.

The Hotel was incredibly good value for money.  The rooms nice and clean, sheets and towels changed everyday, nice balcony and aspect to the pool.  They had two for one cocktails every night which we availed ourselves of every night.  Couldn’t resist a bargain, but also they had a duo singing every evening who were fantastic, excellent musicians and a great range of songs.  The dining room in the hotel served really good fresh food in the evenings and we probably ate there three of the the nine nights we were in Krabi.  The breakfast buffet was quite good although it didn’t vary much the whole time we were there so by the 9th day I was getting a little tired of the selection - small thing really there was plenty to chose from and really way more then I have at home.

The beaches in Ao Nang were a little dirty and we didn’t swim at them however we took a couple of day trips one out to Hong Island and the other round to Railay beach, both lovely days.  The Hong Island trip was good value for money although the boat trip is quite long.  The day at Railay Beach was better for me as the boat trip was shorter so we had more time to explore and swim and eat.  Both spots were gorgeous.

We had excellent food out and the prices were reasonable. Our hotel food would rate as the best quality and value for money.

We found a lovely restaurant on the side of the hill overlooking the bay called Lay Lae Bar and grill which is well written up on trip advisor.  A little more pricey then the other non hotel restaurants but great view and beautiful sunset.

Nothing really stands out – however if I was to pick a day that I enjoyed the most it would be the short trip round the point to Railay Bay  scenery, beaches, food and wildlife were amazing. During our tripping around we saw monkeys, snakes, monitor lizards out in the wild very exciting.

I was pleased we were there on the off season I could imagine that it would be a completely different and slightly made place to be when it was pumping with all sorts of tourists from Europe. There were quite few Russians there and I must look like one of them as I was  constantly getting asked questions in russia.  Hmmm I might grow my hair and lose my tummy I think.

Thanks once again for your service,  Great holiday and excellent value for money.

Kind regards

David
